Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.10% or 0.80 points to trade at 73.71 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 0.77% or 1.00 points to end at 130.60 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 0.77% or 1.15 points to 149.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam (AS:APAM), which lost 3.77% or 1.80 points to trade at 46.03 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.19% or 0.55 points to end at 45.57 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 1.13% or 0.25 points to 21.82.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 45 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.23% or 2.91 to $1267.11 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.44% or 1.21 to hit $48.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.42% or 1.27 to trade at $51.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.0877, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.8436.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 99.02.
