Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 2.17% or 0.94 points to trade at 43.99 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 1.07% or 0.50 points to end at 47.18 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 0.77% or 0.24 points to 32.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.28% or 1.740 points to trade at 74.410 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.81% or 1.13 points to end at 61.37 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 1.48% or 0.20 points to 13.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 43 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.32% or 4.08 to $1251.42 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.58% or 0.30 to hit $51.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.28 to trade at $53.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1177, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8639.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 97.32.
