Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.73% or 2.880 points to trade at 63.780 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 1.20% or 0.55 points to end at 45.98 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 0.49% or 0.50 points to 102.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 2.07% or 1.130 points to trade at 53.400 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.31% or 0.39 points to end at 29.00 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.98% or 0.39 points to 39.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 70 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.22% or 2.95 to $1341.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.04% or 1.41 to hit $44.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.60% or 1.24 to trade at $46.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1231, while EUR/GBP rose 1.01% to 0.8661.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.37.
