Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 2.45% or 0.77 points to trade at 31.96 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) added 0.84% or 0.315 points to end at 37.810 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 0.78% or 0.38 points to 48.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 18.04% or 13.82 points to trade at 62.77 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.43% or 1.100 points to end at 76.030 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 1.37% or 0.82 points to 59.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 48 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.48% or 5.96 to $1259.56 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.75% or 0.38 to hit $51.05 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.26 to trade at $53.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1231, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8635.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.90.
