Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 2.35% or 0.34 points to trade at 15.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) added 0.65% or 0.65 points to end at 100.65 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.62% or 0.30 points to 49.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which fell 3.85% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.55 at the close. Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) declined 3.47% or 2.81 points to end at 78.19 and DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) was down 3.16% or 1.090 points to 33.430.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 96 to 55 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.06% or 12.30 to $1177.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.94% or 0.44 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.20 to trade at $49.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.1443, while EUR/GBP fell 0.78% to 0.7404.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.62% at 94.22.
