Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 7.35% or 0.25 points to trade at 3.65 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE5) added 6.34% or 0.91 points to end at 15.27 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 5.69% or 0.95 points to 17.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 3.62% or 0.36 points to trade at 9.58 in late trade. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 3.32% or 0.75 points to end at 21.86 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) shed 2.61% or 0.53 points to 19.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 190 to 173 and 20 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 11.57% to 32.48.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.48% or 19.45 to $1337.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.50% or 1.54 to hit $45.59 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.45% or 0.70 to trade at $156.20 .
USD/BRL was down 1.48% to 3.2106, while EUR/BRL fell 1.25% to 3.5887.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 95.49.
