Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumption, Industrials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.62% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which rose 6.07% or 2.03 points to trade at 35.45 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) added 5.33% or 0.40 points to end at 7.90 and Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) was up 4.41% or 1.24 points to 29.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3), which lost 4.13% or 2.30 points to trade at 53.40 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 3.73% or 0.50 points to end at 12.90 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) shed 2.60% or 0.43 points to 16.08.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 226 to 158 and 43 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.78% to 31.97.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.42 to $1219.52 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.27% or 1.50 to hit $47.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.75% or 1.02 to trade at $136.40 .
USD/BRL was down 0.71% to 3.1666, while EUR/BRL fell 0.82% to 3.4409.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 99.50.
