Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3), which rose 2.24% or 0.40 points to trade at 18.23 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 1.93% or 0.320 points to end at 16.900 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 1.76% or 0.72 points to 41.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3), which lost 3.88% or 1.70 points to trade at 42.08 in late trade. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 3.06% or 0.210 points to end at 6.650 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) shed 2.73% or 0.29 points to 10.32.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 202 to 158 and 25 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.16% to 31.46.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.56% or 7.10 to $1270.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.31% or 1.16 to hit $51.45 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.42% or 0.67 to trade at $157.88 .
USD/BRL was down 0.56% to 3.1696, while EUR/BRL fell 0.65% to 3.4768.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 97.90.
