Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumption, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3), which rose 4.85% or 0.50 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) added 3.29% or 0.41 points to end at 12.86 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) was up 3.09% or 0.43 points to 14.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 4.97% or 0.52 points to trade at 9.95 in late trade. Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) declined 4.95% or 2.45 points to end at 47.00 and Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) shed 4.52% or 0.97 points to 20.48.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 157 to 134 and 23 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.43% to 41.43.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.11% or 14.05 to $1278.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.18% or 1.42 to hit $46.08 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.66% or 0.85 to trade at $129.77 .
USD/BRL was down 0.81% to 3.4478, while EUR/BRL fell 0.35% to 3.9393.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 93.81.
