April 2 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index was flat at open on Tuesday following its biggest daily surge in more than six weeks in the previous session, as losses in mining stocks hindered the index's advance.
* At 9:30 a.m. ET (1330 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 4.69 points, or 0.03 percent, at 16,232.75.
