Investing.com -- Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ). one of the world's largest solar technology and renewable energy companies, announced the retirement of Mr. Jianyi Zhang from his roles as Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary, effective immediately.
Mr. Zhang has been with Canadian Solar for seven years, during which he championed business integrity and led the legal team in handling complex matters across the company's markets. His roles have been filled in the interim by Mr. Kah Locke Tham, who is currently the Company's Global Corporate Controller, taking on the role of Corporate Secretary; and Mr. Jeffrey Kalikow, General Counsel of Recurrent Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar, stepping in as Interim Chief Compliance Officer.
The company has initiated an executive search process to evaluate candidates for the Chief Legal Officer's role.
Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar, expressed gratitude for Mr. Zhang's significant contributions to the company over his seven-year tenure. "I thank Jianyi for his service at Canadian Solar," said Dr. Qu. "His contributions have been significant and meaningful and I have deeply enjoyed working with him." Dr. Qu also welcomed the support from Mr. Tham and Mr. Kalikow in ensuring a smooth transition.
Canadian Solar was founded in 2001 and has since grown into a leading manufacturer of solar photovoltaic modules and provider of solar energy and battery storage solutions. With a geographically diversified pipeline in various stages of development, Canadian Solar has successfully delivered around 94 GW of premium-quality solar photovoltaic modules worldwide over the past 22 years.
Since entering the project development business in 2010, Canadian Solar has developed, built and connected over 8.8 GWp in over 20 countries across the world. The company currently has approximately 609 MWp of projects in operation, 6.9 GWp of projects under construction or in backlog (late-stage), and an additional 17.7 GWp of projects in advanced and early-stage pipeline.
