Proactive Investors - Cassiar Gold is a Canadian exploration company specializing in gold projects in British Columbia, including the Cassiar Gold and Sheep Creek Gold projects, which are both classified as orogenic gold projects similar to the Barkerville District.
The Cassiar Gold project, situated in the Cassiar Mining District, holds potential for bulk-tonnage resources in Cassiar North and high-grade gold targets in Cassiar South, with an NI43-101-compliant resource estimate of 1.4 million ounces of gold at 1.14 g/t gold at the Taurus bulk-tonnage gold deposit. Cassiar South has seen past production exceeding 350,000 oz gold primarily from high-grade quartz veins, showcasing significant historical success in gold extraction.
In this interview from the floor of PDAC 2024, CEO Marco Roque sheds light on the company's strategic exploration endeavors.
Proactive: I'm joined by Marco Roque, who's the CEO of Cassiar Gold. Lovely to meet you.
MR: Pleasure to be here.
You've got a really interesting gold play in British Columbia. Give us an update of what's going on there.
Absolutely. Cassiar Gold is a Canadian gold explorer focused on our flagship by the same name in northern BC. We control 59,000 hectares, encompassing the entire district with significant exploration potential. Following our 2022 resource update, we drilled just under 40,000 meters, with success in 115 out of 117 drill holes, continuously expanding our gold findings despite market challenges.
Now, you've just put out some news releases expanding on that mineralization. Take us through the 2024 work plan.
We've focused on expanding the Taurus deposit and extending high-grade veins at Cassiar South. Recent soil surveys and drilling campaigns have identified new targets and confirmed the system's expansion. With less than $5 million in the bank, we're planning selective drilling and fieldwork to maintain momentum.
Is all of this work heading towards an updated mineral resource estimate?
That's the goal. Eventually, we'll do a resource update. Capital is a bit scarce, so we need to be very selective about our activities. This project deserves thousands of kilometres of drilling. We're thinking maybe next year or the following to put out a resource update. It’s something that we're really looking forward as well but there’s a lot of work ahead of us. For now, more drilling to keep on expanding what is already a pretty big system.
You've got a past producer there. That's halfway to derisking your project.
Exactly.
