Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.77%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 5.56% or 2.06 points to trade at 39.00 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 3.03% or 0.13 points to end at 4.49 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 2.81% or 0.41 points to 14.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA), which lost 0.83% or 0.043 points to trade at 5.159 in late trade. Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) declined 0.70% or 0.56 points to end at 79.81 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) shed 0.53% or 0.33 points to 62.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which rose 5.56% to 39.00, Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which was up 4.23% to settle at 12.560 and CNP Assurances (PA:CNPP) which gained 3.84% to close at 14.470.
The worst performers were STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which was down 3.36% to 4.806 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 2.38% to settle at 3.57 and Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was down 2.25% to 17.40 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 373 to 290 and 115 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.37% to 21.78.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.02% or 0.30 to $1257.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.49% or 1.41 to hit $41.77 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.71% or 1.59 to trade at $44.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7992.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 94.09.
