Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 2.82% or 1.89 points to trade at 68.84 at the close. Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 2.43% or 3.00 points to end at 126.25 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.87% or 0.12 points to 13.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which lost 1.63% or 1.80 points to trade at 108.90 in late trade. Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) declined 1.43% or 0.71 points to end at 49.02 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) shed 1.23% or 0.29 points to 23.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which rose 2.82% to 68.84, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was up 2.43% to settle at 126.25 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which gained 2.30% to close at 49.800.
The worst performers were Bureau Veritas (PA:BVI) which was down 2.66% to 20.71 in late trade, Natixis (PA:CNAT) which lost 2.61% to settle at 5.937 and Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was down 2.34% to 48.73 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 306 to 304 and 98 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.71% to 14.30.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.43% or 5.49 to $1262.61 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.96% or 0.48 to hit $49.32 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.35% or 0.71 to trade at $51.93 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1174, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8703.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.30.
