Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 2.14% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index fell 1.57%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.80%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG), which fell 0.38% or 0.240 points to trade at 62.760 at the close. Meanwhile, Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) fell 0.68% or 0.460 points to end at 67.400 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) was down 0.79% or 0.560 points to 70.280 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which fell 5.61% or 2.820 points to trade at 47.490 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 3.44% or 0.333 points to end at 9.337 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was down 3.07% or 0.660 points to 20.840.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which rose 3.16% to 16.150, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was up 1.25% to settle at 29.61 and Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which gained 0.06% to close at 6.780.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 4.97% to 71.500 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which lost 4.77% to settle at 12.990 and Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 4.10% to 71.990 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which rose 1.99% to 5.534, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was up 0.43% to settle at 86.500 and Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which gained 0.30% to close at 39.000.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 4.68% to 9.512 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which lost 4.55% to settle at 8.000 and Freenet AG NA (XETRA:FNTGN) which was down 4.21% to 28.190 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 632 to 106 and 37 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.47% to 22.20 a new 1-month high.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.02% or 11.40 to $1128.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.08% or 1.76 to hit $41.36 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.31% or 1.61 to trade at $47.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1059, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.7068.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.89.
