Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Fishery and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which rose 15.20% or 70.0 points to trade at 530.5 at the close. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) added 8.61% or 47.0 points to end at 593.0 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) was up 6.42% or 42.0 points to 696.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yamaha Corp. (T:7951), which lost 11.19% or 377.0 points to trade at 2993.0 in late trade. Kikkoman Corp. (T:2801) declined 5.60% or 200.0 points to end at 3370.0 and Teijin Ltd. (T:3401) shed 5.27% or 124.0 points to 2228.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1843 to 1145 and 342 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.68% to 20.68.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.45% or 0.24 to $54.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.46% or 0.26 to hit $57.07 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.39% or 4.75 to trade at $1225.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 112.67, while EUR/JPY rose 0.07% to 121.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 99.78.
