Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Gas & Water, Non-Metal Minerals and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Panasonic Corp (TYO:6752), which rose 9.76% or 111.50 points to trade at 1,254.00 at the close. Nichirei Corp. (TYO:2871) added 8.90% or 209.00 points to end at 2,556.00 and Subaru Corp (TYO:7270) was up 7.04% or 165.50 points to 2,517.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kao Corp. (TYO:4452), which lost 8.71% or 488.00 points to trade at 5,114.00 in late trade. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) declined 8.49% or 104.00 points to end at 1,121.00 and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4005) shed 5.26% or 26.00 points to 468.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2088 to 1399 and 295 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.97% to 22.04 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.80% or 0.71 to $89.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.57% or 0.54 to hit $95.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.26% or 4.35 to trade at $1,654.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.60% to 147.40, while EUR/JPY fell 0.56% to 145.57.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 111.32.
