Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Transport, Railway & Bus and Shipbuilding sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were TOTO Ltd. (TYO:5332), which rose 6.03% or 270.00 points to trade at 4,745.00 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) added 5.23% or 295.00 points to end at 5,933.00 and NTT Data Corp. (TYO:9613) was up 2.52% or 51.00 points to 2,078.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:5714), which lost 14.21% or 700.00 points to trade at 4,225.00 in late trade. Softbank Group Corp. (TYO:9984) declined 12.73% or 885.00 points to end at 6,068.00 and Olympus Corp. (TYO:7733) shed 10.81% or 334.50 points to 2,758.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2286 to 1304 and 212 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.45% to 20.31 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.27% or 0.24 to $88.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.20% or 0.19 to hit $95.80 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.75 to trade at $1,766.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.41% to 139.37, while EUR/JPY rose 0.13% to 143.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 106.65.
