Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Warehousing, Machinery and Shipbuilding sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 2.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 0.77% or 14.0 points to trade at 1833.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) added 0.32% or 9.0 points to end at 2821.0 and Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (T:7202) was up 0.06% or 1.0 points to 1621.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519), which lost 6.06% or 330.0 points to trade at 5120.0 in late trade. JGC Corp. (T:1963) declined 5.63% or 134.0 points to end at 2245.0 and Yamaha Motor Co Ltd (T:7272) shed 4.64% or 160.0 points to 3290.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2943 to 480 and 141 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.32% to 24.59.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.18% or 0.11 to $60.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $63.82 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.93% or 12.10 to trade at $1317.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.33% to 105.87, while EUR/JPY fell 0.41% to 129.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 90.24.
