Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as in the sectors propelled shares .
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 unchanged 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 6.58% or 102.0 points to trade at 1651.0 at the close. Konami Corp. (T:9766) added 5.08% or 270.0 points to end at 5590.0 and Nippon Yusen K.K (T:9101) was up 4.24% or 87.5 points to 2149.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (T:5631), which lost 1.31% or 45.0 points to trade at 3395.0 in late trade. Concordia Financial Group Ltd (T:7186) declined 1.01% or 6.0 points to end at 587.0 and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9502) shed 0.92% or 14.0 points to 1503.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2461 to 933 and 158 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.29% to 23.80.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.79% or 0.51 to $64.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $69.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 0.80 to trade at $1325.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.23% to 106.20, while EUR/JPY rose 0.02% to 130.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 89.75.
