Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 3.30% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.940 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 3.19% or 0.030 points to end at 0.970 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) was up 2.74% or 0.40 points to 15.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which lost 3.56% or 0.24 points to trade at 6.52 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 4.78% or 0.20 points to end at 4.07 and Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) shed 1.45% or 3.90 points to 265.01.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 23 to 16 and 73 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.39% or 0.19 to $48.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.54% or 6.59 to trade at $1236.59 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 2.11% to 348.450, while USD/NGN fell 1.64% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.71% at 98.11.
