Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 5.00% or 1.59 points to trade at 33.00 at the close. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) added 3.03% or 0.20 points to end at 6.80 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was up 0.71% or 0.95 points to 134.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 8.96% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.61 in late trade. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 3.45% or 0.05 points to end at 1.40 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) shed 3.33% or 3.36 points to 97.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 16 and 48 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.45% or 0.65 to $45.40 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.77% or 0.82 to hit $47.08 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.86% or 11.60 to trade at $1332.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.44% to 314.800, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 283.000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 96.06.
