Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.98%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC), which rose 10.23% or 2.01 points to trade at 21.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) added 10.19% or 2.46 points to end at 26.61 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 8.98% or 0.22 points to 2.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which fell 4.97% or 0.36 points to trade at 6.88 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 1.12% or 0.010 points to end at 0.880 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) was down 0.26% or 0.36 points to 138.63.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 39 to 22 and 37 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 7.79% or 3.83 to $45.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 8.61% or 4.67 to hit $49.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.64% or 7.20 to trade at $1139.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.54% to 224.350, while USD/NGN rose 0.04% to 199.165.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 95.47.
