Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 30.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) added 4.90% or 0.28 points to end at 5.99 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 1.90% or 0.04 points to 2.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB), which fell 6.33% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.81 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) declined 1.86% or 0.03 points to end at 1.55 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was down 1.48% or 0.06 points to 3.99.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 33 to 24 and 36 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.97% or 1.00 to $49.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.01% or 0.57 to hit $56.47 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.05% or 11.60 to trade at $1091.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.61% to 217.400, while USD/NGN rose 0.01% to 199.015.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 97.91.
