Proactive Investors - Norsk Titanium (OL:NTI)'s Oslo-listed shares soared after the company announced that its patented Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) technology has achieved qualification and is in initial production for airplane manufacturer Airbus.
Norsk’s RPD process enables the cost-efficient 3D printing of value-added metal parts. RPD printed parts are already flying on commercial aircraft, Norsk highlighted.
Part of a multi-year collaboration with Airbus, Norsk said on Tuesday that its Merke IV machine and RPD process have qualified for Airbus production.
Airbus’ Germany-based wholly-owned subsidiary Premium Aerotec has placed an order for an initial structural part and Norsk is currently completing order delivery, the company said.
The first additively manufactured preforms delivered by Norsk have been machined, qualified and installed into an A350 assembly.
Norsk shares were up 29.9% at 1.27 Norwegian krone in the early afternoon Central European Time on Tuesday.
