WARSAW, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Poland's grid operator PSE
announced power consumption limits for the biggest power users
until 1500 GMT on Wednesday, as the coutry faces a continued
heat wave that streches its outdated power plants' capacities.
PSE said on Wednesday morning that it introduces the 16th
degree of power supply on the scale of 11 to 20, where 11 means
in practice almost no supply limits, while 20 indicates the
sharpest restrictions.
On Tuesday evening PSE said it expected to lift the limits
on Wednesday, as some power plants were scheduled to come back
online after a temporary outage.
According to the data by Poland's power exchange, a planned
outage at Poland's largest power plant, PGE's PGE.WA 858
megawatt (MW) unit in Belchatow, is due to finish on Wednesday
at 1000 GMT.
The heat wave and lack of rain have cut water levels in
rivers used to cool coal-fired power plants from which Poland
generates about 90 percent of its electricity.
