Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Montepio (LS:MPIO), which rose 99.20% or 0.493 points to trade at 0.990 at the close. Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS) added 3.82% or 0.535 points to end at 14.535 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) was up 1.46% or 0.0540 points to 3.7470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which lost 1.60% or 0.2150 points to trade at 13.2400 in late trade. EDP (LS:EDP) declined 1.48% or 0.0430 points to end at 2.8580 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) shed 0.95% or 0.0530 points to 5.5130.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 12 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 2.92% or 1.45 to $48.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.44% or 1.62 to hit $45.45 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.12 to trade at $1223.32 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8775.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 96.10.
