Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 1.04%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 2.72% or 0.0005 points to trade at 0.0189 at the close. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) added 1.97% or 0.0130 points to end at 0.6730 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 1.95% or 0.2800 points to 14.6300 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which lost 3.05% or 0.2000 points to trade at 6.3500 in late trade. Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) declined 2.15% or 0.177 points to end at 8.040 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) shed 1.68% or 0.008 points to 0.467.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 37 to 9 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for November delivery was up 3.12% or 1.42 to $46.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.04% or 1.31 to hit $44.47 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.67% or 8.85 to trade at $1325.95 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1159, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.8386.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 95.84.
