Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 2.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 6.09% or 0.0012 points to trade at 0.0209 at the close. Sonae (LS:YSO) added 4.43% or 0.0290 points to end at 0.6840 and EDP (LS:EDP) was up 3.51% or 0.0970 points to 2.8580 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 1.30% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.1520 in late trade. Montepio (LS:MPIO) declined 0.79% or 0.004 points to end at 0.500 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) shed 0.38% or 0.0020 points to 0.5310.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 41 to 8 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 0.73% or 0.34 to $46.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.79% or 0.36 to hit $45.05 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.85 to trade at $1359.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1052, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8517.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 96.63.
