Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 3.98%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA), which rose 8.86% or 0.1865 points to trade at 2.2915 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) added 6.94% or 0.0050 points to end at 0.0770 and Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI) was up 6.94% or 0.0665 points to 1.0245 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were REN (LISBON:RENE), which rose 1.17% or 0.0290 points to trade at 2.5070 at the close. Nos SGPS SA (LISBON:NOS) added 1.68% or 0.1160 points to end at 7.0190 and Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) was up 1.93% or 0.0070 points to 0.3700.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 60 to 4 and 4 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for August delivery was up 3.44% or 1.97 to $59.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.67% or 1.38 to hit $53.03 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.00 to trade at $1160.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1012, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.7170.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.81.
