Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which rose 3.61% or 1.710 points to trade at 49.090 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) added 2.80% or 20 points to end at 715 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 2.07% or 17.00 points to 838.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included VTB (MCX:VTBR), which lost 2.82% or 0.0014 points to trade at 0.0499 in late trade. Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) declined 2.24% or 17.0 points to end at 743.0 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) shed 2.03% or 9.50 points to 458.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 104 and 27 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 1.35% to 24.690.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.02% or 0.30 to $1301.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.61% or 1.10 to hit $67.11 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.33 to trade at $78.05 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.40% to 62.3256, while EUR/RUB rose 0.30% to 72.6550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 94.11.
