Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 3.21% or 0.0017 points to trade at 0.0547 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 1.74% or 2.60 points to end at 152.00 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 1.59% or 38.00 points to 2427.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which lost 2.99% or 1.130 points to trade at 36.600 in late trade. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) declined 2.86% or 0.2300 points to end at 7.8200 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) shed 2.51% or 4600 points to 178600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 124 to 75 and 25 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 2.95% to 22.040.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.65% or 8.70 to $1326.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.59% or 1.62 to hit $60.98 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.33% or 1.53 to trade at $64.26 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.45% to 56.9205, while EUR/RUB rose 0.44% to 70.6149.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 89.65.
