Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were PIK (MCX:PIKK), which rose 3.32% or 9.50 points to trade at 295.50 at the close. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) added 2.79% or 7.30 points to end at 269.30 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 1.89% or 29.50 points to 1592.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 4.11% or 8100 points to trade at 189150 in late trade. GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) declined 3.99% or 0.0368 points to end at 0.8848 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 3.13% or 0.430 points to 13.330.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 125 to 92 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.68% to 23.270.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.32% or 3.86 to $1228.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.38% or 0.18 to hit $47.65 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.10 to trade at $50.67 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.07% to 57.0978, while EUR/RUB rose 0.48% to 62.339.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 99.16.
