Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which rose 3.75% or 0.890 points to trade at 24.600 at the close. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) added 1.79% or 5.60 points to end at 318.30 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTA) was up 1.41% or 6 points to 432 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank (MCX:SBER), which lost 3.70% or 4.58 points to trade at 119.17 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 3.18% or 2.46 points to end at 74.80 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) shed 2.71% or 31 points to 1115.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 124 to 96 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.25% to 33.590.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.19% or 2.40 to $1252.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.79% or 0.35 to hit $43.83 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.09% or 0.50 to trade at $45.30 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.31% to 66.0461, while EUR/RUB rose 1.44% to 74.632.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 94.53.
