Proactive Investors - Sigma Lithium (TSXV:SGML) told investors its clean technology and pioneering environmental sustainability practices in lithium production for electric vehicles have been featured at various events at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28), currently underway in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

For the fourth consecutive COP, the company said it has actively participated in shaping the global conversation on environmental and social sustainability in industrial and mineral supply chains.

CEO Ana Cabral has been a featured speaker at various prestigious events during COP28, engaging directly with world leaders to discuss the development of supply chains aligned with principles of decarbonization, ecosystem preservation, and social justice.

Among her speaking engagements, Cabral will deliver a keynote presentation on December 8 to global and business leaders on 'Decarbonizing Supply Chains and Accelerating Industrial Transition'.

Cabral emphasized Sigma Lithium's dedication to a just global energy transition, stating: "Since inception, Sigma Lithium has focused on supporting a just global energy transition by pioneering new mining practices governed by social and environmental sustainability.”

She highlighted the company's lithium Greentech industrial operations in Brazil as a model of collaboration between the public and private sectors, demonstrating the transformative impact on regional prosperity and global industrial supply chains.

"I am honored to return to COP for a fourth time as a delegate with Sigma and for the fourteenth time as a party, to have the opportunity to share Sigma's impressive sustainability story with this global audience of heads of state and renowned business and community leaders, particularly at such a critical moment for our planet,” Cabral added.

Cabral also noted that the Sigma Lithium team in Dubai is part of the largest delegation Brazil has ever brought to COP, underlining the government's and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s commitment to leadership in global decarbonization with social equity.

Sigma said its leadership at COP28 builds on its history of significant contributions to the climate dialogue. Cabral recently shared the company's vision at the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Sigma Lithium has partnered with the Aspen-Columbia Global Energy Forum, a collaborative effort between The Aspen Institute's Energy & Environment Program and The Center on Global Energy Policy.

Triple Zero Green Lithium

The company achieved a significant milestone in April by initiating the production of Triple Zero Green Lithium—a battery-grade, carbon-neutral, and zero-hazardous chemicals lithium concentrate.

Utilizing 100% renewable energy and recycled water at its Greentech lithium processing plant, Sigma’s sustainable approach is reinforced by its commitment to 'Zero Tailings'. The company announced a deal to achieve Zero Tailings by selling the high-purity, zero hazardous chemicals, approximately 1.3% lithium oxide, ultra-fine tailings generated by the Greentech Plant to be upcycled into battery-grade lithium concentrate for use in electric vehicle battery production.

Sigma said its recent 22,000-tonne shipment of Triple Zero Green Lithium and green by-products to Glencore (LON:GLEN), its fourth to date, further cements its position in building a low carbon, environmentally and socially sustainable global lithium supply chain for electric vehicles.

To offset its low carbon content, Sigma Lithium has purchased carbon credits from Carbonext, verified through the Verra Verified Carbon Standard, ensuring that the shipment of Triple Zero Green Lithium is carbon neutral.

COP28 runs until December 12 at Expo City, Dubai. As the world's highest decision-making process on climate issues, it is expected to host over 70,000 delegates, including heads of state and world leaders, to build consensus and facilitate progress on climate action among 197 countries, the EU and thousands of non-government organizations, companies, youth groups, and other stakeholders.
