Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX), which rose 4.02% or 0.72 points to trade at 18.65 at the close. Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) added 1.87% or 3.30 points to end at 179.70 and Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) was up 1.67% or 0.850 points to 51.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 6.31% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.609 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) declined 3.45% or 0.690 points to end at 19.290 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) shed 2.08% or 0.255 points to 12.030.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 93 to 80 and 14 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.44% or 5.53 to $1267.63 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.50% or 1.24 to hit $48.42 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.53% or 1.32 to trade at $50.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1229, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8712.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 96.97.
