Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Financial Services & Real Estate and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which rose 2.54% or 0.121 points to trade at 4.893 at the close. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) added 0.57% or 0.033 points to end at 5.834 and ACS Const. (MC:ACS) was up 0.35% or 0.100 points to 28.480 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 2.70% or 0.199 points to trade at 7.178 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG) declined 2.51% or 0.143 points to end at 5.550 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) shed 1.41% or 0.170 points to 11.880.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 53 and 15 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.28% or 15.35 to $1211.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.56% or 0.82 to hit $53.45 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.79% or 0.99 to trade at $56.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.0783, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8580.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.76% at 99.66.
