Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 0.88% or 0.045 points to trade at 5.174 at the close. Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 0.77% or 0.130 points to end at 17.100 and Inditex (MC:ITX) was up 0.61% or 0.180 points to 29.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL), which lost 5.47% or 0.221 points to trade at 3.818 in late trade. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) declined 4.26% or 0.061 points to end at 1.372 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) shed 3.08% or 0.297 points to 9.360.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 163 to 27 and 22 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.41% or 18.15 to $1306.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.02% or 1.45 to hit $46.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 1.44 to trade at $47.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.62% to 1.1190, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.7903.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 95.08.
