Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which rose 1.52% or 0.038 points to trade at 2.539 at the close. Indra A (MC:IDR) added 1.24% or 0.145 points to end at 11.805 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was up 1.12% or 0.014 points to 1.262 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 3.25% or 0.181 points to trade at 5.394 in late trade. Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) declined 3.18% or 0.33 points to end at 10.04 and Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) shed 2.07% or 2.75 points to 130.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 118 to 68 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.43% or 5.75 to $1335.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.83% or 1.35 to hit $46.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.16% or 1.58 to trade at $48.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1212, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8454.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 95.45.
