Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 1.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 0.95% or 0.043 points to trade at 4.571 at the close. Enagas (MC:ENAG) added 0.24% or 0.065 points to end at 26.565 and Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) was up 0.08% or 0.10 points to 120.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 5.80% or 0.097 points to trade at 1.574 in late trade. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) declined 5.62% or 0.288 points to end at 4.832 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) shed 3.82% or 0.069 points to 1.739.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 157 to 40 and 16 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 2.50% or 30.35 to $1242.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.51% or 0.25 to hit $48.92 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.18 to trade at $49.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.69% to 1.1341, while EUR/GBP rose 1.01% to 0.7810.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.56% at 94.07.
