Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Information Technology and Trading sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Hayleys Fibre PLC (CM:HEXP), which rose 37.95% or 25.20 points to trade at 91.60 at the close. Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL) added 21.31% or 14.00 points to end at 79.70 and Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC (CM:BREW) was up 14.83% or 96.50 points to 747.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING), which lost 23.33% or 21.00 points to trade at 69.00 in late trade. Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) declined 11.09% or 149.70 points to end at 1200.10 and Indo Malay PLC (CM:INDO) shed 9.52% or 158.00 points to 1501.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 63 and 48 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.94% or 0.87 to $45.63 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 2.34% or 1.08 to hit $47.33 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.33% or 4.45 to trade at $1352.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.06% to 189.090, while USD/LKR fell 0.05% to 145.660.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 96.24.
