Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Information Technology, Investment Trust and Plantations sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.52% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Alliance Finance Company PLC (CM:ALLI), which rose 36.71% or 277.10 points to trade at 1031.90 at the close. ACL Plastics PLC (CM:APLA) added 20.42% or 39.00 points to end at 230.00 and EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) was up 11.99% or 149.90 points to 1400.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which lost 23.91% or 3228.000 points to trade at 10272.000 in late trade. Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) declined 23.25% or 386.20 points to end at 1275.00 and Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) shed 14.95% or 123.90 points to 705.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 139 to 63 and 46 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.10% or 0.47 to $42.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.71% or 0.32 to hit $44.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.92% or 12.35 to trade at $1359.05 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.00% to 188.985, while USD/LKR fell 0.35% to 145.110.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.52% at 95.56.
