Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kinko Optical (TW:6209), which rose 9.97% or 2.95 points to trade at 32.55 at the close. Long Chen Pape (TW:1909) added 9.90% or 2.55 points to end at 28.30 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 9.79% or 1.40 points to 15.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Formosa Sumco (TW:3532), which lost 10.00% or 9.70 points to trade at 87.30 in late trade. Green Seal (TW:1262) declined 9.85% or 16.50 points to end at 151.00 and In-Win Dev (TW:6117) shed 9.77% or 2.10 points to 19.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 481 to 279 and 112 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.64% or 0.32 to $49.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.74% or 0.39 to hit $52.83 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.32% or 17.08 to trade at $1272.02 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 30.273, while TWD/CNY rose 1.10% to 0.2297.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 99.16.
