Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which rose 9.94% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.50 at the close. Acelon Chemicals & Fiber Corp (TW:1466) added 6.72% or 0.80 points to end at 12.70 and Micro-Star International Co Ltd (TW:2377) was up 6.42% or 4.60 points to 76.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Green Seal Holding Ltd (TW:1262), which lost 10.00% or 10.30 points to trade at 92.70 in late trade. Taroko Textile Corp (TW:1432) declined 9.81% or 1.80 points to end at 16.55 and Kuangli Photoelectric Technology Co Ltd (TW:6431) shed 6.25% or 0.80 points to 12.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 445 to 323 and 112 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.59% or 0.26 to $44.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.51% or 0.24 to hit $47.12 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.01 to trade at $1211.19 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 30.572, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 95.93.
