Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Paper & Pulp and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456), which rose 10.00% or 0.88 points to trade at 9.68 at the close. Compucase (TW:3032) added 9.97% or 3.85 points to end at 42.45 and Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371) was up 9.86% or 1.05 points to 11.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Li Cheng (TW:4426), which lost 9.95% or 10.80 points to trade at 97.70 in late trade. Enterex International Ltd (TW:1592) declined 8.00% or 4.40 points to end at 50.60 and Tonlin Dept (TW:2910) shed 7.68% or 2.30 points to 27.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 388 to 385 and 101 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.26% or 0.13 to $50.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $53.73 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.55 to trade at $1189.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 31.926, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2161.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 102.06.
