Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Transport and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.21% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pec (TW:4916), which rose 9.90% or 4.15 points to trade at 46.05 at the close. Hiti Digital (TW:3494) added 9.77% or 1.30 points to end at 14.60 and Via Tech (TW:2388) was up 9.71% or 1.35 points to 15.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ritek (TW:2349), which lost 10.00% or 0.27 points to trade at 2.43 in late trade. Casetek (TW:5264) declined 10.00% or 13.50 points to end at 121.50 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) shed 9.98% or 2.00 points to 18.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 387 to 372 and 87 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.01% or 0.88 to $44.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.46% or 0.65 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.58% or 7.35 to trade at $1281.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 32.354, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2008.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 93.21.
