Proactive Investors - Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has been forced to issue a new physical recall of its Cybertruck, this time brought low by its oversized windshield wiper.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the electric vehicle maker is recalling 11,688 of its pickup trucks as a failure of the windshield wiper could reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
This is thought to be virtually all the Cybertrucks on the road since deliveries started last November.
The recall notice said: "excessive electrical current can cause the front windshield wiper motor controller to fail".
Tesla will replace the wiper motor for no charge.
Also, 11,383 pickup trucks also need to be recalled as some of the trim in the trunk bed may not have been properly attached, potentially coming loose and creating a road hazard, the NHTSA said in a separate notice that said the company's service arm will fix the trim with free of charge.
In April, Tesla recalled 3,878 Cybertrucks due to risks about a jammed accelerator pedal.
