Investing.com - Canadian equities started with gains on Wednesday, with rises in majority of indices, the most notable ones being the Information Technology, Energy and Materials. Renewable Energy and Clean Technology, Health Care and REIT were down.
At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index rose 0.61%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap also increased. The TSX Venture climbed 1.05%, while the Smallcap increased by 0.68%.

- Celestica Inc (TSX:CLS).: Rose 7.03% or 4.76 points to 72.51
- New Gold (TSX:NGD): Increased 5.32% or 0.150 points to 2.970
Top Losers:
- OceanaGold (TSX:OGC): Declined 8.82% or 0.315 points to 3.255
- Spin Master Corp (TSX:TOY): Dropped 5.16% or 1.71 points to 31.46
- Allied Properties (TSX:AP_u): Fell 3.72% or 0.65 points to 16.80
In Commodities Trading:
- Crude Oil for September delivery climbed 2.30 points to 77.03 a barrel.
- October Brent Oil Contract is up by 2.74% or 2.14 climb to 80.21 a barrel.
- Gold Futures for December delivery rose 18.90 points to 2,470.80 a troy ounce.
Currency Markets:
- USD/CAD cruises at 1.38 with a daily range of 1.3805 - 1.3859.
- EUR/CAD is stable at 1.49.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 103.732.
