Investing.com – At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite Index was at 21,876 points, or up 0.1% in the day’s trading, tracking the price of crude and gold to close on a positive note.
Arc Resources (+6.59%), Advantage Oil and Gas (+6.34%), NuVista Energy (+6.16%) were amongst the biggest gainers on the TSX today, while Canopy Growth (TSX:WEED) (-12.44%), IAMGold (-7.89%0, and Energy Fuels (-6.80%) were amongst the biggest losers.
The TSX’s commodities tilt helped the index eke out a gain despite rising yields and concerns of slowing economic growth, as the World Bank cut its 2022 global growth forecast today from 4.1% from 3.2%.
Economic data from China today also indicates a slowdown in the world’s second largest economy by GDP.
In New York, the S&P500 was flat, the Dow Jones was down 0.11%, and the Nasdaq was 0.14% lower at the close.
In Bonds
Yields on the Government of Canada’s benchmark 10 year bonds were at 2.809%, while yields on the 5 year were at 2.665%.
Yields on the benchmark U.S. treasury were at 2.862%.
