U.K. shares higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.39%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Life Insurance/Assurance and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.39%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which rose 3.28% or 9.80 points to trade at 308.30 at the close. Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN) added 2.93% or 8.30 points to end at 292.00 and Standard Life PLC (LON:SL) was up 2.50% or 8.100 points to 331.400 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 1.75% or 11.70 points to trade at 658.30 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 1.36% or 14.00 points to end at 1015.00 and SKY PLC (LON:SKYB) shed 1.35% or 12.00 points to 875.50.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1130 to 973 and 407 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.50% or 19.35 to $1272.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.88% or 0.94 to hit $49.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.92% or 0.97 to trade at $49.68 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.14% to 1.4672, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.7676.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 94.00.
